“I have relatives in Chennai but they ditched me”, states Muralidharan in a matter-of-fact tone.  The 51-year old stenographer hails from Rajapalayam and is a divorcee with a son.

The loss of his job was the main reason behind his deteriorated mental condition. Wandering aimlessly in the roads of Chennai, Muralidharan was brought to Anbagam in a disheveled condition. “I suffer from no health problem”, he says.

At Anbagam, Muralidharan’s needs are amply taken care of. “Reading is my hobby. I read Tamil papers and magazines, apart from watching TV”, he reveals. As for his residence at Anbagam, Muralidharan says, “I like this place’.
